Third victory in the OPEN category for Thomas Krasonis!

The racing weekend in Most got off to an ideal start for Thomas Krasonis! The first Greek professional racing driver celebrated victory in the first race of the OPEN category in the Czech Republic for the NASCAR Euro Series!

Krasonis took advantage of the circumstances and secured a very important victory, as after the race Jordan O’Brien, who had crossed the finish line first, was penalized with a five-second penalty for restarting the race incorrectly.

Thus, Krasonis, who was 4.987 behind O’Brien at the end of the race, ultimately celebrated victory by a breath, just 0.013 seconds!

The chaotic start of the race proved decisive for many drivers. O’Brien started ninth, but managed to take advantage of what happened in front of him and found himself at the forefront of the race. However, after the Virtual Safety Car procedure, he made a mistake at the restart, resulting in a five-second penalty that cost him the victory!

Thanks to the 40 points he earned for his victory, Thomas Krasonis moved up to fourth place in the standings with 223 points, just six points behind OPEN leader Melvin De Groot!

In the PRO category race that preceded it, Thomas Krasonis finished fourth, collecting valuable points and is now third in the standings with 227 points and first in Junior! The leader in PRO is the winner of Saturday’s race in the Czech Republic, Gianmarco Ercoli, with 246 points, while Vittorio Ghirelli is second with 229!

On Sunday, the second OPEN race will start at 12 noon and will last 14 laps. The three-day event will conclude at 4:20 p.m. with the start of the second PRO race, which will last 17 laps. All times mentioned above are Greek time. ANT1+ will broadcast all the action from both Saturday and Sunday’s races to its subscribers, with commentary in Greek! There will also be live coverage on the official EuroNASCAR YouTube channel.

Thomas Krasonis is participating in both categories of the NASCAR Euro Series this year, PRO and ORE, driving the Chevrolet Camaro with the number “13” of the top team in the Championship, the Belgian PK Carsport, in all races.

Thomas Krasonis’ efforts in the NASCAR Euro Series are supported by Costamare Shipping Company and Dodoni Dairy, while medical coverage is provided by the Athens Medical Group.
