EuroNASCAR – Valencia: Thomas Krasonis out of Race 2, but leaves Spain with points

Thomas Krasonis had a DNF in the second race of EuroNASCAR in Valencia, but managed to leave Spain with points after the first race weekend.

The second race at the Spanish GP of the NASCAR Wheelen Euro Series ended ingloriously for Thomas Krasonis.

After yesterday’s race, which saw him finish 7th after starting from 14th place, the goal today was for another strong race.

Starting from 11th place on Sunday morning, Thomas managed to climb up to 10th, but with the differences being small and the opponents all close up, the battles were intense, with him falling 12th on lap 6.

For the next laps, he continued to fight, aiming for the top 10.

As he was pushing, and as the race now needed 3 laps to finish, he was out of the brakes while getting down the gears and found himself in the sand trap, at the exit of the last turn.

His race was done there, keeping Saturday’s 7th place and its 30 points as his best result of the weekend.

The next round of the championship comes on June 19-20 in Most, Czech Republic.

EuroNASCAR – Valencia: Εγκατάλειψη στον 2ο αγώνα για τον Θωμά Κρασώνη – Φεύγει με βαθμούς

Ο Θωμάς Κρασώνης είχε εγκατάλειψη στον δεύτερο αγώνα του EuroNASCAR στη Βαλένθια, καταφέρνοντας όμως να φύγει με βαθμούς από την Ισπανία μετά τον πρώτο αγώνα.

Ο δεύτερος αγώνας στο GP Ισπανίας του NASCAR Wheelen Euro Series ολοκληρώθηκε άδοξα για τον Θωμά Κρασώνη.

Μετά τον χθεσινό αγώνα, που τον είδε να τερματίζει 7ος μετά την εκκίνηση από την 14η θέση, οι βλέψεις σήμερα ήταν για έναν ακόμα δυνατό αγώνα.

Ξεκινώντας από την 11η θέση το πρωί της Κυριακής, ο Θωμάς κατάφερε να ανέβει 10ος, αλλά με τις διαφορές μικρές και τους αντιπάλους να βρίσκονται όλοι κοντά, οι μάχες ήταν έντονες, με τον ίδιο να πέφτει 12ος στον 6ο γύρο.

Για τους επόμενους γύρους, συνέχισε να δίνει μάχες, με βλέψεις για την δεκάδα.

Καθώς πίεζε, και ενώ πλέον ο αγώνας ήθελε 3 γύρους για να ολοκληρωθεί, «έμεινε» από φρένα στο κατέβασμα των σχέσεων και βρέθηκε στην αμμοπαγίδα, στην έξοδο της τελευταίας στροφής.

Εκεί ολοκληρώθηκε κι ο αγώνας του, κρατώντας ως καλύτερο αποτέλεσμα την 7η θέση και 45 βαθμούς.

Ο επόμενος αγώνας του πρωταθλήματος πιθανώς να είναι αυτός στο Brands Hatch, αφού ο αγώνας του Μοστ στην Τσεχία κρίνεται αμφίβολος εξαιτίας της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού..

EuroNASCAR – Valencia: Thomas Krasonis grabs 7th place after the first race of the season

Thomas Krasonis climbed from 14th to 7th place in the first race of this season, giving battles until the last lap.

The first race of the NASCAR Wheelen Euro Series at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia ended positively for Thomas Krasonis.

The young Greek driver started from 14th place, having found it difficult to make a clean lap in the qualifiers that took place earlier on Saturday.

Thus, the goal was to make a good recovery in the race, which started at 17:00 in Spain.

In the rolling start, Thomas was in his element and managed to win 4 places at the end of the first round, climbing 10th.

Lap by lap he was gaining ground, and by the lap  5 he had managed to pass for 9th place.

On lap 6, the #22 of Justin Kunz had a puntcure, and this allowed Krasonis to get up on P8.

In the next 9 laps, he had Naveh Talor and Advait Deodhar up close, who seemed to lag behind the rhythm of the Greek driver. Indeed, with 3 laps left, he managed to pass Deodhar first, while in the penultimate lap he fought with Talor, passing him temporarily, before returning to the 7th position, where he finished.

Seven winning places in the 60 km race for Krasonis, who is now waiting for the start order of the race for tomorrow (11:30 Greece, LIVE here), determined by the fastest laps of each driver from today’s race.

EuroNASCAR – Valencia: Έβδομος στον πρώτο αγώνα ο Θωμάς Κρασώνης

Ο Θωμάς Κρασώνης αναρριχήθηκε από την 14η στην 7η θέση στον πρώτο αγώνα της φετινής σεζόν, δίνοντας μάχες μέχρι και τον τελευταίο γύρο.

Ο πρώτος αγώνας του NASCAR Wheelen Euro Series στην πίστα του Ricardo Tormo στη Βαλένθια ολοκληρώθηκε θετικά για τον Θωμά Κρασώνη.

Ο νεαρός Έλληνας οδηγός εκκίνησε από την 14η θέση, έχοντας δυσκολευτεί να βγάλει ένα καθαρό γύρο στις κατατακτήριες που έγιναν νωρίτερα το Σάββατο.

Έτσι, στόχος ήταν η ανάκαμψη στον αγώνα, διάρκειας 15 γύρων, που ξεκίνησε στις 17:00 Ισπανίας.

Στην εν κινήσει εκκίνηση, ο Θωμάς βρέθηκε στο στοιχείο του και κατάφερε με το τέλος του πρώτου γύρου να κερδίσει 4 θέσεις, ανεβαίνοντας 10ος και έχοντας σε απόσταση βολής τους προπορευόμενους.

Γύρο με τον γύρο κέρδιζε έδαφος, και μέχρι τον 5ο γύρο είχε καταφέρει να περάσει για την 9η θέση.

Στον 6ο γύρο, το #22 του Justin Kunz είχε κλατάρισμα, κι αυτό επέτρεψε στον Κρασώνη να βρεθεί 8ος.

Στους επόμενους 9 γύρους, είχε από κοντά τους Naveh Talor και Advait Deodhar, που έδειχναν να υστερούν σε ρυθμό του Έλληνα οδηγού. Πράγματι, με 3 γύρους να απομένουν, κατάφερε να περάσει πρώτο τον Deodhar, ενώ στον προτελευταίο γύρο έδωσε μάχη με τον Talor, περνώντας τον προσωρινά, προτού ξαναβρεθεί στην 7η θέση, στην οποία και τερμάτισε.

Επτά θέσεις κέρδος στον αγώνα των 60 χιλιομέτρων για τον Κρασώνη, που πλέον περιμένει να επικυρωθεί η σειρά εκκίνησης για τον αυριανό αγώνα (11:30 Ελλάδας, LIVE εδώ), που καθορίζεται από τους ταχύτερους γύρους του εκάστοτε οδηγού από τον σημερινό αγώνα.

Ο Θωμάς Κρασώνης στη Βαλένθια για τον πρώτο αγώνα του EuroNASCAR 2021 (+photos)

Το 2021 ξεκινά αύριο και μεθαύριο, το διήμερο 15-16 Μαΐου, για τον Θωμά Κρασώνη.

Ο Έλληνας οδηγός αγωνίζεται και φέτος στο NASCAR Euro Wheelen Series, τον ευρωπαϊκό θεσμό του NASCAR, οδηγώντας το EuroNASCAR FJ 2020 για λογαριασμό της Academy Motorsport.

Ο Κρασώνης, που αγωνίζεται με τα ελληνικά χρώματα και τη στήριξη των 4ΤΡΟΧΩΝ, συμμετέχει στην κατηγορία EuroNASCAR 2, με teammate τον Βλαδίμηρο Τζιώρτζη στην ίδια κατηγορία, και τον Jacques Villeneuve, πρωταθλητή F1 του 1997, στην κατηγορία PRO.

Η πρεμιέρα της φετινής σεζόν διεξάγεται, όπως κάθε χρόνο μετά το 2014, στην πίστα Ricardo Tormo της Βαλένθια, μία πίστα που ο Θωμάς Κρασώνης γνωρίζει καλα από τον αγώνα του εκεί το 2019 στο συγκεκριμένο πρωτάθλημα.

Αναχωρώντας για την ισπανική πόλη, ο ίδιος δήλωσε:

«Είμαστε έτοιμοι για τον πρώτο αγώνα. Δεν θέλω να πω πολλά – περιμένω να μπω στη γνώριμη για μένα πίστα της Βαλένθια και να κυνηγήσω ένα πολύ καλό αποτέλεσμα. Εύχομαι καλή επιτυχία σε όλους τους συναθλητές μου, και να έχουμε ένα καθαρό και δυνατό αγώνα.»

NASCAR GP Spain – 2021 Valencia NASCAR Fest Preview

The 2021 NASCAR Euro Wheelen Series begins this weekend at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, and Thomas Krasonis will be competing in the EuroNASCAR 2 category, with the EuroNASCAR FJ 2020 car.

It’s been a long time coming for this return in the racing bucket for Thomas. After a very positive test session in Italy a couple of weeks ago, the Academy Motorsport driver is ready to tackle the first round of the 2021 season, in Valencia.

It’s a track Thomas knows very well, having raced there previously in 2019, in his first year in the EuroNASCAR championship.

The 4.005 km circuit in the southeast of Spain offers a good mix of slow, tight corners, and more fast kinks that pose a challenge for the drivers, especially when driving these beasts that the NASCAR cars are.

Thomas and the other 29 drivers will also have a crowd to cheer them as they go after the track announced that it will allow the presence of 2000 spectators in the grandstands for the whole weekend.

Announcement for the 2021 season

In 2019, we participated in a new category for us, the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

In 2021, we continue our journey and we’re really happy about that.
I will be competing in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, but with a few changes since the last time.
Our partnership with Alex Caffi’s team, called Academy Motosport, will continue, with me joining the team in the EuroNASCAR Elite 2 category, driving the #2 Ford Mustang. On top of that, Jacques Villeneuve, F1 champion and all-around motorsport legend will be my teammate during this season.
As you read these lines, I will be already taking part in the first official test ahead of the new season, getting to grips with the beast that this 500 HP Mustang is, and getting to know the talented competition that this category provides.
The championship commences in 3 weeks, on 15-16 of May, with the first two races at Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, and it will conclude in fall, at the Vallelunga Circuit, after 7 race weekends and 14 races.
I look forward to this challenge, for all the on-track battles, for the competition. I can’t wait to get back in the car, get my seatbelt done and go pedal to the medal!

Press Release: Bittersweet symphony in EuroNASCAR Czech Republic GP

Thomas participated in the 7th and 8th round of NWES, the weekend of 29 and 30 June 2019 at Autodrom Most. The Czech Republic GP was a bittersweet experience as we had an engine failure during qualifying, a good Saturday race starting at the very end and managing a P16 finish, and again a bitter Sunday starting P13 when racing incidents at the first corners created minor body damage that led to tire failure and retirement although we had already climbed to P9 and were fighting for P8.

 

 

 

“I had to start the first race from the back of the grid due to an engine failure that happened during qualifying. I managed to finish 16th.

In the second race i started 13th but after a tire failure i had to retire while fighting for 8th place.”
