Thomas Krasonis

Press Release: Bittersweet symphony in EuroNASCAR Czech Republic GP

Thomas participated in the 7th and 8th round of NWES, the weekend of 29 and 30 June 2019 at Autodrom Most. The Czech Republic GP was a bittersweet experience as we had an engine failure during qualifying, a good Saturday race starting at the very end and managing a P16 finish, and again a bitter Sunday starting P13 when racing incidents at the first corners created minor body damage that led to tire failure and retirement although we had already climbed to P9 and were fighting for P8.

“I had to start the first race from the back of the grid due to an engine failure that happened during qualifying. I managed to finish 16th.

In the second race i started 13th but after a tire failure i had to retire while fighting for 8th place.”

“I want to thank my team Alex Caffi Motorsport for the support and huge amounts of effort they put into making my car competitive.
Next race will be announced soon.”

Press Release: Top10 club in EuroNASCAR UK GP

Thomas participated in the 5th and 6th round of NWES, the weekend of 1 and 2 June 2019 at Brands Hatch. The UK GP brought us a Super Pole entry during qualifying, a great Saturday race leading in a P7 finish, and a bitter Sunday race when a racing incident at Druids corner led to a drive through penalty that resulted in P25.

“Saturday was an incredible day since I managed to enter my first super pole and finish in the TOP-10 for the first time in the 7th position.

On Sunday things didn’t work out the same way , while fighting for 15th place I got a drive through penalty and ended up 25th.”

“I want to thank my amazing team Alex Caffi Motorsports for the work they put in to make my car extremely competitive and my Spotter!

See you all at the next race.”

Press Release: Battle scars in EuroNASCAR Italy GP

Thomas participated in the 3rd and 4th round of NWES, the weekend of 11 and 12 May 2019 at Autodromo di Franciacorta in Brescia.

During qualifying session, due to too much traffic he was not able to clock a really fast lap, and he had to start race 1 in P20.

“Having made a good start I was able to make some good passes and from 20th I managed to secure 16th place. But I had to avoid a sudden accident in front of me which unfortunately led to me spinning, the moment I tried to come back to the track. I finished in 26th place.”

For race 2 Thomas started in P18.

“It was not the race weekend we hoped for. A lot of crashes happening and damage to my car did not allow me to complete the second race . Positive thing is that according to laptimers and my team I was really fast and competitive. I started in P18 and after many fights in the last laps of the race I was fighting for a top-10 finish. Damage from collisions that happened in the beginning of the race caused a total failure of my power steering which made my car impossible to drive. It was an honor racing with Alex Caffi as my teammate!!! Also great job from my team Alex Caffi Motorsports that prepared for me a very good car under a lot of pressure, and many thanks to my spotter!”

The third double race (5th and 6th round) of the Nascar Whelen Euro Series Championship will be held on 1 and 2 June at Brands Hatch Indy circuit in UK.

Press Release: NASCAR with Greek COLOR !

His debut at Nascar Whelen Euro Series made 18-year-old Thomas Krasonis, who participated in the first double race this season, on the weekend of 13 and 14 April at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

It was the first racing experience for the young Greek driver in this kind of racing, and his … anxiety was obvious to some extent on Saturday’s timings, as after a mistake he made in his quick timed lap, he failed to score the time he could to do.

So in the grid of the first race he was in 21st place among 32 contestants. By making a good start, he quickly passed the slower drivers and found himself in the “train” that claimed seats 13-18. With patience and certainty he started overtaking and taking advantage of his speed, and managed to overtake three other opponents and finish the race in 15th place.

Having already taken … the baptism of fire, Thomas was ready for the second fight on Sunday morning. Beginning 21st again, he felt much more comfortable in the Ford Mustang. And this was manifested in the race as he was stupefying, impressing the organizers of the Championship, who spoke with the best words about the 18-year-old Greek. Besides, in 15 rounds, Krasonis managed to pass 10 cars and finish off marginally out of the top ten, gaining a total of 50 points. Performance that brings him to the eighth place of the Championship score.

“It was an incredible experience! The race was very enjoyable, especially on Sunday, when I felt really comfortable in my car. I was impressed by the attendance of the spectators, as more than 30,000 spectators were found on the track at Valencia on Sunday! I’m looking forward to the next race in Italy” said Thomas Krasonis.

The second double race of the Nascar Whelen Euro Series Championship will be held on 11 and 12 May at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy.
