Krasonis: “One step closer…”
With a smile wider than ever, Thomas Krasonis climbed the highest step of the podium in the OPEN class in Zolder, taking the most decisive step towards winning the title.
“It was a very tough race. Throughout I was under a lot of pressure from the cars following me, but I managed to manage the situation and get the win. Now we are one step closer to achieving our big goal, which is none other than winning the OPEN title” Thomas Krasonis pointed out.
He added: “There is a match ahead of us on Sunday. I’m not concerned with scenarios, with rankings, with what the other drivers will do. We will get in the car to do what we have to do to get the points needed to achieve our goal.”
He stressed that “I want to thank once again everyone who is by my side. My sponsors, Costamare and Dodoni, Alon Day who has helped me a lot to develop as a driver, my trainer Paul Timbas, my family who supports me, my friends and of course my team, PK Carsport”.
Thomas Krasonis is one step away from the championship in OPEN
Thomas Krasonis is even closer to achieving his big goal, which is none other than winning the NASCAR Euro Series OPEN Championship! The 23-year-old driver took the victory in Saturday’s race in the OPEN class at the Zolder circuit in Belgium and is now very close to becoming Champion in his class and making history, achieving something that no other Greek racing driver has not achieved so far, namely to win the title in a European motorsport championship.
The OPEN race went perfectly for Krasoni, who started from the front row of the grid. Just at the first corner, however, poleman Thomas Toffel made a mistake, locked the brakes and was off the track, leaving Krasonis in the lead. And there he stayed for the 15 laps of the race. Despite a track-wide yellow flag with seven laps to go due to another driver retiring, Krasonis on the restart handled the situation perfectly and cruised to his sixth win of the season in the OPEN class, increasing his points lead in the standings to 45 points over Doubek (476 instead of 431). It should be noted that in Sunday’s OPEN race, Krasonis will start from pole position.
As for the PRO, Thomas Krasonis finished fourth in Saturday’s race, after a great battle with Gianmarco Ercoli for the last step of the podium. The winner was Vittorio Ghirelli, who reached 462 points and is +30 ahead of Ercoli with one race to go before the season finale. Krasonis is in 4th place in the PRO with 393 points.
On Sunday, the start of the second race of the OPEN will be at 12.30 p.m. and will be 15 laps long. The curtain will fall at 3.45 p.m. with the start of the second PRO race, which will be 18 laps long. All the aforementioned times are Greek times. As always, Thomas Krasonis has been preparing intensively for the season finale in Belgium. After the race in Germany, the 23-year-old driver traveled to Zolder, where he tested under the guidance of Alon Day in order to be fully prepared for the big “final” of the year.
“When the season started, one of my big dreams was to win a title at the end of it. This long journey has brought us one step closer to achieving that goal today. Being at the top of the OPEN standings is certainly very important, as we only have two days of racing left to complete the Championship, but we have to do exactly what we did in the previous races so that on Sunday evening we can take stock of the season and have in our hands what all of us in this team want,” said Thomas Krasonis.
He added: “This is not the time for big talk, but only for driving. We went to Zolder last week to do some testing, everything went well, we saw a lot of things with my coach Alon Day, and we are ready to face the big challenge of the final.”

Thomas Krasonis is in Belgium for the NASCAR Euro Series final!
It’s time for the finales for Thomas Krasonis! The first Greek professional racing driver is in Belgium, where the last two races of the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series will take place this coming weekend, which are also the season finals. As was the case in the semifinals in Oschersleben, the points awarded to drivers in Zolder will be double in each race.
Krasonis is coming off a very good two days of racing in Germany, where, in addition to climbing onto the winners’ podium once again, he collected valuable points in his battle for the OPEN category title. The 23-year-old driver is at the top of the standings with 396 points, 35 points ahead of his closest rival for the title, Czech driver Martin Doubek.
In the PRO category, Thomas Krasonis has 327 points and is fifth in the standings, while also being third in the junior standings.
The venue for the second two-day playoff race is Zolder in Belgium, a 4.011-kilometer track with ten corners and long straights. Thomas Krasonis is participating in both categories of the NASCAR Euro Series this year, PRO and OPEN, driving the Chevrolet Camaro with the number “13” of the top team in the Championship, the Belgian PK Carsport, in all races.

The three-day schedule and broadcasts
The racing schedule begins with free practice at noon on Friday. The first free practice sessions for PRO start at 3:05 p.m. and for OPEN at 3:45 p.m., while the second free practice sessions will take place at 5:05 p.m. for PRO and 5:45 p.m. for OPEN.
Saturday’s schedule begins with the PRO qualifying session, which will start at 11 a.m. This will be followed by the OPEN qualifying session at 11:55 a.m. The first PRO race will start at 3 p.m. and will last 18 laps (72.20 km). The corresponding first OPEN race will start at 5:55 p.m. and will last 15 laps (60.17 km).
On Sunday, the second OPEN race will start at 12:30 p.m. and will last 15 laps. The three-day event will conclude at 3:45 p.m. with the start of the second PRO race, which will last 18 laps.

Krasonis: “There are two races left…”
Thomas Krasonis was full of emotion after the second OPEN race and the result that put him +35 ahead of Martin Doubek in the battle for the title. “I feel great! I wanted a win in Germany, I deserved it yesterday, but as I said after Saturday’s race, Bruno raced exceptionally well. Today I tried to pressure Bruno to push him into making a mistake, but when Patrick approached me with the intention of passing us both, I decided I had to make my move immediately. And that’s what I did. I made the move from the inside, passed first, and won the race. Fortunately, the weather was on our side, as it started raining as soon as the race ended! There are two races left to complete the Championship.”

For his part, Thomas Krasonis’ mentor and multiple NASCAR Euro Series champion Alon Day emphasized: “It was one of the best races ever held in the Championship. Thomas’ overtaking was amazing. I’m speechless! At a time when he was under a lot of pressure from the cars behind him, he chose to make this impressive move from the outside and took the win.”
Another victory in the OPEN for Thomas Krasonis!
A victory that brings him even closer to achieving this year’s big goal, which is none other than winning the title in the OPEN category of the NASCAR Euro Series, celebrated Thomas Krasonis in Sunday’s race at the Oschersleben track!
The first Greek professional racing driver was impressive in Sunday’s race, climbing to the top step of the podium and earning 80 points. This brings Krasonis’ total to 396 points, putting him 35 points ahead of second-placed Martin Doubek and 48 points ahead of Saturday’s race winner at the German track, Bruno Mulders.
Krasonis fought his hardest battle during the race against the Dutchman. The two of them broke away from the rest of the cars early on, but Mulders’ pace limited Krasonis, allowing the other drivers to gradually catch up. The difference in pace between the Dutchman and Krasonis became apparent when, four laps before the checkered flag, Krasonis passed Mulders and within a lap and a half had created a gap of almost two seconds from the other drivers! Managing the last two laps exceptionally well, Thomas Krasonis saw the checkered flag first in the OPEN class for the fifth time this year and climbed to the top step of the podium!
In the PRO category race, which brought the three-day program at Oschersleben to a close, Thomas Krasonis was in fifth place until he was forced to retire due to a mechanical problem. Thus, with 327 points, he is 55 points away from the top of the PRO standings.

Thomas Krasonis has been training intensively for the first big event of the NASCAR Euro Series playoffs. Immediately after the race at Most, the first Greek professional racing driver traveled to Oschersleben where, under the guidance of Alon Day, he conducted tests in order to be fully prepared for the two-day race at the German track.
“To be honest, I didn’t have time to rest at all after Most, as immediately after the race we went to Germany to do some testing with the team and Alon in preparation for the playoffs. Everything went very well, we are completely satisfied with the work we did on the track and we are ready to give it our all. The Championship has reached its most critical point, as the double points in each of the remaining races can play a pivotal role in the title battle. However, we are not feeling any pressure and will give our all on the track,” said Thomas Krasonis.

It’s playoff time in Oschersleben for Thomas Krasonis!
Playoff time has arrived for Thomas Krasonis! The OPEN class champion in the NASCAR Euro Series regular season is in Oschersleben, Germany, where this coming weekend, September 20 and 21, the first double race of the Championship playoffs will take place, with double points awarded in each race. Krasonis is coming off an excellent performance at the Most race in the Czech Republic, where he celebrated victory in both OPEN class races and, with the 40 points he earned, reached 246, finishing the regular season at the top of the standings, five points ahead of Martin Doubek and 17 ahead of Melvin De Groot.
In the PRO category, Thomas Krasonis has 233 points and is fourth in the standings, while he is also second in the junior standings. He is fourth in the team standings with 118 points.
The venue for the two-day first playoff race is the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, a technical and fast 3.667-kilometer track known for its impressive races and exciting battles. A total of 57 different drivers, representing 20 countries, will be present at the German race of the NASCAR Euro Series.

Krasonis: “We are very happy, but everything will be decided in the playoffs!”
Thomas Krasonis could not hide his satisfaction after his second victory in the OPEN category in the Most race in the Czech Republic for the NASCAR Euro Series. The 23-year-old driver, wrapped in the blue and white flag, listened to the national anthem blaring from the track’s loudspeakers and, overcome with emotion, said: “It was a very difficult battle, but I have to admit that these are the battles I like. I understand that Martin Doubek may not be very happy today, as he certainly wanted the victory in front of his compatriots. However, I want to tell him that I enjoy our duels on the track and that drivers of his caliber make the Championship very difficult and interesting. It was a difficult race, but I have said before that if you are 100% focused from the first to the last moment, the results will come. The battle with Martin was very clean, and I am sure that we will offer a beautiful spectacle in the upcoming races that will decide the title battle. We are very happy to be leading the standings in the regular season, but everything will be decided in the playoff races, where double points are awarded. I don’t have much to say about the PRO race. The truth is that the damage to our car significantly limited us, but it was crucial to reach the finish line in order to collect as many points as we could. And that’s what we did. So, starting tomorrow, we will turn our attention to the race in Germany.”
