Thomas Krasonis is the regular season champion in the OPEN category!

Thomas Krasonis is the regular season champion in the OPEN category of the NASCAR Euro Series! The first Greek professional racing driver celebrated victory in the second race of the OPEN category at Most in the Czech Republic and, with the 40 points he earned, reached 246. As the regular season comes to an end, his worst result of the season so far, which was in the first race at Brands Hatch (17 points), is removed! Thus, with victories in Spain and Italy and a double victory in the Czech Republic, he finished the regular season at the top of the standings, five points ahead of Martin Doubek and 17 ahead of Melvin De Groot.

Krasonis proved once again that he knows how to manage the race in difficult circumstances. This was the case in the second race at Most, when a yellow flag was raised due to incidents on the track. At the restart, with a masterful move from the outside, he overtook two of his rivals and found himself in the lead, where he remained until the race was stopped two laps before the end. After the red flag, the race ended behind the safety car, with Krasonis climbing to the top step of the podium, ending the regular season in the OPEN category in dream fashion.

In the PRO race, which brought the curtain down on the three-day event at Most, Krasonis was in 8th place on the grid. Seconds after the start, as he approached the second turn of the track, he was hit on the right side, causing the car to lift up on two wheels and suffer extensive damage. In fact, due to the incident, he found himself in 18th place in the standings, but with patience and perseverance, he managed to finish 11th and collect important points ahead of the playoffs. After the completion of the second race in the Czech Republic, Thomas Krasonis has 233 points in the PRO category and is fourth in the standings, while he is also second in the junior standings. He is fourth in the team standings with 118 points.

Thomas Krasonis is participating in both categories of the NASCAR Euro Series again this year, PRO and OREN, driving the Chevrolet Camaro with the number “13” of the top team in the Championship, the Belgian PK Carsport, in all races. Thomas Krasonis’ efforts in the NASCAR Euro Series are supported by Costamare Shipping Company and Dodoni Dairy, while medical coverage is provided by the Athens Medical Group.

The next stop for the NASCAR Euro Series Championship is the double race in Germany on September 20 and 21 at the Oschersleben circuit, which is also the first of the two playoff rounds of the season with double points for drivers in each race.

Krasonis: “I managed to stay calm and I was vindicated!”

After a considerable delay due to the stewards’ investigation of the incident with O’Brien, Thomas Krasonis celebrated his victory in the OPEN race at Most. “I told before the start of the race that I wanted to have a clean race. I said this based on what I had seen in the PRO race and I believed it was possible. Unfortunately, however, some drivers think they can win a race in the first corner. They took unnecessary risks and you saw what happened. What I did was stay calm and try to maintain my position. I succeeded, as no one passed me at the start, and in the end, I was vindicated. Then I found my rhythm and made it to the finish line. I am very happy with this victory, which brings us even closer to achieving our big goal of entering the playoffs with the best possible score,” said the 23-year-old driver.

Third victory in the OPEN category for Thomas Krasonis!

The racing weekend in Most got off to an ideal start for Thomas Krasonis! The first Greek professional racing driver celebrated victory in the first race of the OPEN category in the Czech Republic for the NASCAR Euro Series!

Krasonis took advantage of the circumstances and secured a very important victory, as after the race Jordan O’Brien, who had crossed the finish line first, was penalized with a five-second penalty for restarting the race incorrectly.

Thus, Krasonis, who was 4.987 behind O’Brien at the end of the race, ultimately celebrated victory by a breath, just 0.013 seconds!

The chaotic start of the race proved decisive for many drivers. O’Brien started ninth, but managed to take advantage of what happened in front of him and found himself at the forefront of the race. However, after the Virtual Safety Car procedure, he made a mistake at the restart, resulting in a five-second penalty that cost him the victory!

Thanks to the 40 points he earned for his victory, Thomas Krasonis moved up to fourth place in the standings with 223 points, just six points behind OPEN leader Melvin De Groot!

In the PRO category race that preceded it, Thomas Krasonis finished fourth, collecting valuable points and is now third in the standings with 227 points and first in Junior! The leader in PRO is the winner of Saturday’s race in the Czech Republic, Gianmarco Ercoli, with 246 points, while Vittorio Ghirelli is second with 229!

On Sunday, the second OPEN race will start at 12 noon and will last 14 laps. The three-day event will conclude at 4:20 p.m. with the start of the second PRO race, which will last 17 laps. All times mentioned above are Greek time. ANT1+ will broadcast all the action from both Saturday and Sunday’s races to its subscribers, with commentary in Greek! Why NASCAR Must Stop Playing Catch-Up to Earn Global Respect

What’s next for NASCAR?

Firstly, maybe it’s high time they need to commit to one thing; either go all international and put a stop to it. And, as per reports, the sports body is already on the move. Earlier this year, Adam Stern hinted that ‘The Clash’ could potentially be held in Brazil in the foreseeable future, a step in the right direction for the stock car racing series.

Secondly, NASCAR’s ABB integration for hybrid or EV should come into play now, more than ever. And, they should be on the same page as manufacturers who want their racing programs to align with their showroom products.

Lastly, it’s the driver pool. Maybe NASCAR needs to attract more globally recognized motorsports stars to compete in the Cup Series, which would not only improve the competition but also show the world that the stock car racing series isn’t just an American sport.

It’s a discipline that reflects diversity from across the world. Sure, the inclusion of Shane van Gisbergen and Katherine Legge is a step in the right direction, but promoting rising talent like the Truck Series’ Andrés Pérez de Lara and NASCAR Euro Series driver Thomas Krasonis can go a long way.

Why NASCAR Must Stop Playing Catch-Up to Earn Global Respect

Fastest Man in UK Thomas Krasonis Breaks Brands Hatch Lap Record

Thomas Krasonis said that his feat of breaking Ander Vilariño’s 13-year old lap record at Brands Hatch is proof that his speed improves “every single time I hit the track”.

EuroNASCAR’s longest standing lap record was shattered in American SpeedFest 12. Ander Vilariño’s 13-year old lap record at Brands Hatch was beaten by a driver that has been making a lot of impressions in the 2025 EuroNASCAR season: Thomas Krasonis.

Krasonis shattered the lap record in Sunday’s EuroNASCAR OPEN race with a time of 48.771. The Greek driver became the first driver to ever set a 48-second race lap time at Brands Hatch in EuroNASCAR stock cars.

Fastest Man in UK: Thomas Krasonis Breaks Brands Hatch Lap Record

Krasonis: “We never give up…”

Although the three days of racing at Brands Hatch didn’t turn out the way he wanted, Thomas Krasonis never gave up and was vindicated. A podium in Sunday’s OPEN race was exactly what he needed before the summer holidays, and ahead of what is expected to be an impressive season finale!

“The truth is that luck was not on our side at Brands Hatch on Saturday. Nothing went as we had planned and as we wanted it to, with the consequence that we were unable to continue the winning streak we had built up in the first races of the season. But there are such things as that in racing. It’s just that sometimes things go wrong, as it happened to us on Saturday,” Thomas Crasonis said, adding: “All these years in the NASCAR Euro Series we have learned to never give up. That’s what we did at Brands Hatch and we were vindicated by the result of Sunday’s OPEN race. It was a very important podium, especially because of the conditions under which it came. Stability is key.”

Crasonis made it clear that “already Brands Hatch is a thing of the past. After the cancellation of the Dutch race, we have more than two months to go until the next race, at Most in the Czech Republic. We’ll recharge the batteries by taking a few days off and keep going strong, because there’s no room for relaxation. Our goal is to go into the playoffs as high in the standings as possible and to do that we need to stay totally focused. We are now out of Joker’s, so we need to finish as high as possible in Most!”

He concluded: “I want to once again thank my sponsors, Costamare and Dodoni, the Medical Centre for providing me with medical services, my team PK Carsport, my coach Alon Day, Paul Tyba who is responsible for my physical condition and of course all my mechanics.”

The next NASCAR Euro Series race is scheduled for the weekend of 29-31 August at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.

Stunning finish at Brands Hatch with another podium for Thomas Krasonis

Thomas Krasonis saved the best for last in the third race weekend of the NASCAR Euro Series, climbing to the second step of the podium in Sunday’s OPEN class race!

At the Brands Hatch circuit, the first Greek professional racing driver encountered many difficulties and was extremely unlucky, especially in Saturday’s races, falling off the podium for the first time on a race day this season. But the finish of the three-day event was ideal, with Krasonis finishing second in Sunday’s OPEN race, with the early conclusion of the race due to on-track accidents denying him the opportunity to claim his third OPEN win of the season.

In Saturday’s PRO race, luck turned against the 23-year-old driver as on the final lap, and while in the top five, a piece of debris left on the track from contact with other race cars resulted in him being clipped and losing several positions, finishing 15th. The misadventure, however, continued in the OPEN race, which started in torrential rain and was red-flagged. After the restart, and while Krasonis was high in the standings, a mechanical problem with the car forced him to retire, three laps before the checkered flag dropped.

Sunday’s PRO race was just as eventful, as there was a stoppage due to two cars exiting and coming into contact with the barriers. After the restart, Krasonis found himself in tenth place. With patience and precise moves, he recovered five places and eventually crossed the finish line in 5th place.

An impressive race and a lap record!

In the OPEN race, which brought the curtain down on the three-day event, Krasonis did some amazing things. Despite starting from 10th on the grid, he had gained five positions in the first five laps of the race. Overtakes on De Groot, Elllis and O’Brien followed, with Krasonis moving up to second and catching up with leader Martin Doubek very quickly. The two engaged in an epic battle for 15 laps, but with two laps to go, and with Krasonis about to make another move to overtake Doubek, an on-track collision of other cars filled the road with oil, with organisers immediately red-flagging the race to prematurely end the race. Thus, Krasonis finished the three days of racing at Brands Hatch with another podium!

At the same time, Thomas Krasonis also set a lap record at Brands Hatch for a NASCAR Euro Series race with 48”.771!

After the first six races of the season, Thomas Krasonis is 5th in the OPEN class standings with 183 points, while in PRO he is 4th with 194 points, and first in the juniors standings with Paul Jouffreau.

Thomas Krasonis is again competing in both the PRO and OPEN divisions of the NASCAR Euro Series this year, driving in all races the number “13” Chevrolet Camaro of the Championship’s top team, the Belgian PK Carsport.

Supporters of Thomas Krasoni’s effort in the NASCAR Euro Series are Costamare Shipping Company and the “Dodoni” Dairy Industry, while medical coverage is provided by the Athens Medical Group.

Krasonis: “At my favourite Brands Hatch, aiming for new victories”

The first two race weekends of this year’s Championship went extremely well for Thomas Krasonis, who climbed the podium in both Spain and Italy in both classes in which he competes.

The 23-year-old driver has been preparing intensively for the third race of the year, under the guidance of Paul Timpas, and is ready for the big challenge ahead of him. Brands Hatch, after all, is one of Thomas Krasoni’s favourite circuits, and he has competed in many races there since his championship days with the Citroen Saxo in Great Britain.

“We have put behind us what happened in Spain and Italy. That’s what we have to do after every race, as there is no room for relaxation. Brands Hatch is a favourite destination. It may be a short track, but it’s a particularly demanding track and doesn’t allow you to relax for a second, as the laps are very fast. I’ve always enjoyed driving at Brands Hatch and I can’t wait to be back on the track again,” the Greek driver stresses.

He adds: “The very good start to the season, the victories and the successive podiums fill us with confidence but also with a lot of responsibility. With my coach, Alon Day, we plan every move, we study each track very carefully and I want to believe that in Great Britain we will continue our series of victories and podiums. We are following our five-year plan closely, going step by step and we want to pick up points that will take us into the play-offs to challenge for this year’s titles.”

And he concluded: “Everything that is happening this year could not have come true without the support of the people who are on our side. I want to thank my sponsors, Costamare Shipping Company and Dodoni Dairy, who are doing their utmost to ensure that this journey continues to be a success. The Athens Medical Group for their continuous medical support before and after every race, the Antenna Group, who brings the action from all the NASCAR Euro Series races to every home and of course everyone who supports our effort.”
