Krasonis: “It was a chaotic race, I’m very happy for the victory”

Thomas Krasonis in his statements immediately after the race was over stood on the dramatic on-track development. “At the start I looked in my mirror and saw that I was under pressure, but I managed the situation and stayed in the lead. After a while I looked in the mirror again and saw no one near me. At that moment I was informed of the red flag. I wish my teammates involved in the accident a speedy return to racing.”

He added: “After the restart I did exactly what my coach, Alon Day, had told me to do, which was to protect my position, watch my race and soon created a gap sufficient to give me the win. Despite the two FCYs, I was not actually threatened. We pushed until the end to secure pole position and we did it on the last lap. I’m happy with the win, we’re going strong. Unfortunately we couldn’t make the podium and the PRO race. On Sunday we will give everything to be on the podium again.”

And he concluded: “Many thanks to my sponsors, Costamare and Dodoni, the Medical Center that offers me medical services, my team PK Carsport, my coach Alon Day, Paul Timbas who is responsible for my physical condition and of course all my mechanics”.

Krasonis: “We are ready to give it all”

Having already put the two wins in Valencia in the season opener behind him, Thomas Krasonis has been preparing intensively for the second race of the year, both in the gym, under the guidance of Paul Tymbas, and on the track. Last week the Greek driver was in Vallelunga where he spent a day testing his race car, with his coach, Alon Day, at his side.

“The race weekend in Valencia is a thing of the past. From the day after the race onwards, we focused on preparing for the Valelunga race, which is one of the most demanding in the Championship. This is because, in addition to the particularities of this particular track, Vallelunga is a home race for many of my teammates, so they know the secrets of this particular track very well”, the Greek driver stresses.

He adds: “Last week Alon and I were in Italy last week and we were testing with the team. I did a lot of kilometres on the track and I definitely gained a lot of experience ahead of the race, working a lot on the set-up of the car with the engineers. I think we are at a very good level and we are ready to give it our all. As I said before the Valencia race, our task is difficult, but the objective is clear. There is a five-year plan underway, at the end of which we want to be in the United States and the NASCAR Cup Series. We are going strong and we want to pick up points that will take us into the play-offs to challenge for the titles.”

He concluded: “I want to thank everyone who is with me in this effort. Thomas Krasonis in Italy aiming for more podiums!

Vallelunga… time for Thomas Krasonis! The first Greek professional racing driver is already in Italy, where this weekend will be held the second race weekend of this year’s NASCAR Euro Series championship.

The Autodromo di Vallelunga welcomes again the gladiators of the NASCAR Euro Series for the NASCAR GP Italy. The 4,085-metre-long track, located near Rome, is preparing to host the Italian race for the sixth time, with the “tiffosi” eagerly awaiting the sound of the V8 engines!

The opening round of the 2025 season in Valencia was… dreamlike for Thomas Krasonis. The 23-year-old celebrated the first victories of his career in both PRO and OPEN, and became the first Greek winner in the NASCAR Euro Series.

Thomas Krasonis will again participate in both the PRO and OPEN divisions of the NASCAR Euro Series this year, driving in all races the number “13” Chevrolet Camaro of the Championship’s top team, the Belgian PK Carsport.

Supporters of Thomas Krasoni’s effort in the NASCAR Euro Series are Costamare Shipping Company and the “Dodoni” Dairy Industry, while medical coverage is provided by the Athens Medical Group.

The programme and the broadcasts of the three-day event

The racing programme starts with the free practice sessions at noon on Friday. The first free practice sessions for PRO will start at 3 p.m. and OPEN at 3.45 p.m., while the second free practice sessions will be held at 5.15 p.m. for PRO and 6 p.m. for OPEN.

Saturday’s schedule begins with PRO qualifying starting at 11 a.m. and each driver will have the opportunity to complete two fast laps. This will be followed by OPEN qualifying at 11.55am. The first PRO race will start at 3.30pm and will be 18 laps (73.8km) long. The corresponding first race of the OREN will start at 6.15 p.m. and will have a duration of 15 laps (60.45 km).

On Sunday, the second race of the OREN will start at 12.00 p.m. and will have a duration of 15 laps. The curtain will fall at 4 p.m. with the start of the second PRO race, with a duration of 18 laps.

All the aforementioned times are Greek. ANT1+ will bring its subscribers all the action from both Saturday’s and Sunday’s races, with a description in Greek! At the same time there will be live coverage via the official EuroNASCAR YouTube channel.

Thomas Krasonis made history in Valencia with his first NASCAR Euro Series victory!

Thomas Krasonis made history in the season-opening NASCAR Euro Series race at the Valencia circuit. The first Greek professional racing driver celebrated the first victory of his six-year NASCAR Euro Series career, fulfilling a big dream. 23-year-old Thomas became the first Greek driver to win a NASCAR Euro Series race with a dominant performance in the OPEN class race.

Krasonis had to fight hard to win the 15-lap race in Valencia. He initially lost the lead to the speedy Claudio Remigio Cappelli, but waited patiently and on lap 5 he made his move into the first corner, took the lead and never looked back. In fact, he had such a gap that he was not really threatened in either FCY session due to accidents on the track.

“I’m sure this is just the beginning!” said a happy Krasonis shortly after his big win. “Thanks to my sponsors, Alon Day, my PK team, my personal trainer and everyone who has been with me through this project. We came into the opening race very well prepared, so all I can say is that winning doesn’t come easy. I made a small mistake with the late braking at the start, but I will learn from it. It’s a good experience for the PRO class race, where I need to do even better. I don’t have anything else to say, it was a great Saturday.”

As for Saturday’s PRO race, Thomas started from third place, but very soon he was second and stayed very close to Paul Jouffreau throughout the 18 laps, making several attempts to pass him. The fall of the chequered flag found the Greek driver in second place in the standings. In short, the first Saturday of the season ended with a double podium in Valencia!

Double pole position on Sunday!

So on Sunday he will start both races from pole position, which is extremely rare in the NASCAR Euro Series! On Sunday, the start of the second race of the OPEN will be at 12.05 pm (local time) and will be 15 laps or 40′ plus one lap. The curtain will fall at 3.30 pm with the start of the second PRO race, which will be 18 laps or 45 minutes plus one lap.
