Krasonis: “We’re leaving France behind and getting ready for the next races”

Thomas Krasonis could not hide his disappointment over what happened in Saturday’s race. “We knew it would be a difficult weekend because it was a new track for everyone. But unfortunately, things started off badly for us once again, through no fault of our own. When a driver like Jouffreau crashes into you almost without braking, you don’t have much time to react. Even so, however, we managed to react and, by setting the fastest lap, secure pole position for Sunday,” the 2025 OPEN Champion initially emphasized.
“On Sunday, I was overtaken twice early on, again through no fault of my own, as it was preceded by contact with O’Brien. But I quickly regained one position by passing Vittorio. After that, the gaps essentially stabilized for the remaining laps, and I couldn’t get back to the front, finishing second,” he added.
And he concluded: “We’re putting what happened in France behind us and focusing on the next race, at my favorite track, Brands Hatch. I would especially like to thank my sponsor, Costamare Shipping Company, which has stood by me for yet another year, supporting our efforts, as well as my family.”

First podium finish of the season for Thomas Krasonis

Thomas Krasonis has secured his first podium finish of the season. The second race of the 2026 NASCAR Euro Series Championship was full of intense drama for the 2025 OPEN class champion, as for the second consecutive Saturday race, he was unable to celebrate a good result due to an accident caused by an opponent. However, just as happened in the season opener in Valencia, Sunday’s second race came along to close out the three-day weekend with a smile and a second-place finish!
On Saturday, the V8GP race was a… repeat of the season opener. As soon as the race started, Thomas, starting from second place, made a move and passed Paul Jouffreau, who three laps later crashed into Krasonis almost without braking, causing the two cars to collide and lose many positions. Thomas returned to the pits where the PK Carsport mechanics repaired the car so he could get back on the track. And so it was, with the 24-year-old setting the fastest lap of the race, which earned him pole position for Sunday. Unfortunately, however, he was unable to finish Saturday’s race and retired.
On Sunday, Krasonis started from pole position, but was hit by Jordan O’Brien; as a result, while trying to keep the car on the track, he lost two positions to his teammate, Vittorio Ghirelli, and Jouffreau. He soon managed to pass Ghirelli, but in the remaining laps he was unable to regain the lead, crossing the finish line in second place behind his French rival.
After the second race weekend, Thomas Krasonis is in 6th place in the V8GP standings with 104 points.
This season, Thomas Krasonis is competing in the V8GP class—formerly known as PRO—driving the No. 13 Chevrolet Camaro for the championship-leading Belgian team, PK Carsport.

Krasonis: “New track, new challenge!”

The return of the NASCAR GP France to the calendar is, in fact, something completely new for the vast majority of Championship participants. Of course, there are quite a few drivers who have raced at Paul Ricard, but in other racing formats and not with the “beasts” of the NASCAR Euro Series.
“The truth is that this is something completely new for all of us. Even though it’s one of the most famous tracks in the world, for us in the NASCAR Euro Series, Le Castellet is something new, and we’ll have to quickly learn its… secrets ahead of the very decisive second race weekend,” emphasized Thomas Krasonis.
He added: “The poor result in the first race at Valencia essentially makes it imperative that we secure good finishes from here on out, so that by the end of the season we can exclude the season-opener from our points tally. We’ve prepared very well, we’ve done track practice, and I believe that with the right approach and a fighting spirit, we’ll manage to leave France with the best possible result.”
He concluded by saying: “As was evident from the excellent response of the PK Carsport mechanics after the accident in the first race in Valencia, the team is capable of providing me with a very good car, even after such a severe accident. I will do whatever it takes to get the result. I would like to thank the people who support my efforts, above all Costamare, who are always by my side, and of course my family and friends.”

Thomas Krasonis is all set for the “challenge” at Paul Ricard

It’s the second round of this season for Thomas Krasonis. The 2025 OPEN class champion in the NASCAR Euro Series is all set for the second race weekend of 2026, as he is already in France to compete in the race to be held at the legendary Paul Ricard circuit.
The NASCAR GP France returns after an eight-year hiatus, having last been held in 2018. This will be the first visit to the track at Le Castellet.
The three-day event in France features plenty of racing action as well as family-friendly activities. The track, built in 1970 and certified as “FIA Grade 1,” is characterized by its long straight, the 1.8-km “Mistral.” Following modifications made between 2000 and 2005, the track offers 247 possible configurations ranging from 828 meters to 5.858 km, which is its longest configuration.
The track is known for its distinctive red and blue run-off areas, which are constructed from a mixture of asphalt and tungsten, used in place of sand traps.
After winning the OPEN title last season, Thomas Krasonis is competing in the V8GP class this season, driving the No. 13 Chevrolet Camaro for the championship-leading Belgian team, PK Carsport.
