Krasonis: “Very important points in the battle for the Championship”

Thomas Krasonis left the Czech Republic with positive thoughts from his overall performance in the double-header in Most.
“We went to the last double race of the EuroNASCAR regular season with the aim of collecting valuable points for the effort we are making in this year’s competition. We could have finished the weekend completely satisfied if it hadn’t been for the mishap in Sunday’s PRO race with the car’s exhaust system. But mechanical problems are part of motorsport too. We continue to go strong,” Thomas Krasonis stressed.
He added: “The period of time ahead of us until the semi-finals of the season in Germany is short. Of course we are not complacent and we have already turned our attention to the next race weekend, testing in Germany, so that we are ready for Oschersleben”.

Important points ahead of the play offs

Despite the misfortune of Sunday, the weekend was completed with a positive sign for Thomas Krasonis, who is fifth in the “2” category with 246 points, while in the “PRO” category he is 11th with 204 points. In the “Junior” category of the “PRO”, Thomas Krasonis is in fourth place.
With the regular season now complete, the drivers are entering the final stage of their preparations ahead of the season’s play-offs. The semi-finals of this year’s championship will be held over the weekend of 21-22 September at the Oschersleben circuit in Germany, where the points scored by each driver will count double.

Valuable points for Thomas Krasonis in Most!

Another weekend of positive racing for Thomas Krasonis, who completed his participation in the fifth round of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series at the Most circuit, collecting valuable points in the final round of the regular season.
The first Greek professional racing driver completed his racing commitments in the fifth weekend of the season, performing very well, despite the mishaps that occurred this time.
In Saturday’s PRO class race, Thomas started 16th, but after some battles won, he saw the chequered flag fly while he was 14th in the standings. Things clearly went better in the “2” category race, with Krasonis starting from 10th on the grid. Once again he drove smartly, made several overtakes and eventually finished the race in seventh position overall.
In Sunday’s PRO class race, bad luck prevented Thomas from getting the points he was aiming for. A problem with the exhaust of the race car resulted in the car malfunctioning, leading to a retirement for safety reasons.
Finally, in the second race of category “2”, Thomas was in sixth place on the grid. The race had many battles and twists and turns and in the end, the Greek driver finished sixth overall.

Krasonis: “Favorite track the Autodrom Most…”

Despite the long summer break, Thomas Krasonis did not become complacent throughout July and August.

With a daily presence in the gym in order to further improve his physical condition ahead of the highly demanding season finale, Thomas Krasonis is all set for the big battle at the Most.

“The Most Motor Speedway is a favourite destination. I would say it’s the track where I enjoy driving the most. Last week we had the opportunity to be at Most for two days and did quite a few kilometres of testing to get the right set up for the car. Valuable, once again, was the contribution of Alon Day, who we have been working with for the last few months. After all, Alon is one of the most experienced drivers in EuroNASCAR, and he also holds the track record at the Most. So there is no one better suited than him to show me exactly what is needed to get the most out of the weekend in the Czech Republic” said Thomas Krasonis.

After the completion of the first four race weekends of the season, Thomas Krasonis is fourth in the “2” category standings with 199 points, the same as Patrick Schober. In “PRO” he is eighth with 175 points. In the “PRO” “Junior” category individual standings, Thomas Krasonis is in third place, and after the completion of the fourth weekend of the season, in the “Endurance” Championship standings he is third with 115 points, just one point off second place and 15 from the top!

Thomas Krasonis back in action!

After the summer break, the time to return to action has arrived for NASCAR Euro Whelen! The track of Most in the Czech Republic welcomes the participants of the event and of course Thomas Krasonis, is all set to meet the big challenge of claiming the titles in both classes!

The first Greek professional racing driver is already in Most, where the fifth race weekend of this season’s EuroNASCAR will take place.

The fifth race of the season is a key point for the championship battles in EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2, as at the end of the weekend all drivers will “throw away” their worst score from the first nine races of the season, before entering the double-point play-offs in Ossersleben and Zolder.

The Most circuit was inaugurated in 1983 and has been hosting EuroNASCAR races since 2019. It is 4,212 metres long and consists of 20 corners.

The weekend’s racing programme starts with qualifying, which will be held on Saturday. The first races in both the PRO category and category 2) will be held on Saturday.

On Sunday, the EuroNASCAR 2 drivers will start their second race at 11.55 a.m., to conclude the weekend’s programme with the PRO category race at 3.15 p.m..

We recall that Thomas Krasonis is participating this year in both EuroNASCAR categories, EuroNASCAR 2 and EuroNASCAR PRO, with the team with which in 2023 he made the big step in his racing career, Marko Stipp Motorsport.

Thomas is driving the number “46” Chevrolet Camaro at all Championship tracks this year, following a full schedule to maximise his track time and challenge for both titles.

ΝΑSCAR GP Czech Republic – Coming in hot after the podium

Thomas Krasonis returns from the summer break, ready to give everything he has after the podium finish at Vallelunga. Next stop: Autodrom Most!

On 3 and 4 of September, Thomas Krasonis and the Academy Motorsport team will compete in the third round of this year’s EuroNASCAR championship, the NASCAR GP Czech Republic.

We sat down with Thomas for a quick Q&A, to get his feeling after the long weeks without a race.

-How was the summer break for you?

I didn’t have enough time to go to vacations this summer, due to the commitments I had. Now I’m ready for the races at Most!

-Talk us through the experience of working with the Centaurus Racing Team.

It was a beautiful and unique experience. It’s a group of 42 mechanics and enginners from the University of Thessaly, and they outdid themselves in order to build and race this race car. They have my utmost respect, and I thank them for the opportunity to compete with it.

-What are your past experiences at the Most circuit?

I have raced there before. It’s a very fast flowing and pleasing to drive in track. In fact, it’s one of my favorites in the EuroNASCAR calendar!

-So, what are your expectations for the race weekened in Czechia?

If everything goes to plan, I don’t believe I lack in any aspect to the guys in front. Good qualifying and a good start will help us take a solid result, with the goal always being a finishing position in the top 10.

And here is the schedule for this weekend (in Local Czech Republic Time)

Press Release: Bittersweet symphony in EuroNASCAR Czech Republic GP

Thomas participated in the 7th and 8th round of NWES, the weekend of 29 and 30 June 2019 at Autodrom Most. The Czech Republic GP was a bittersweet experience as we had an engine failure during qualifying, a good Saturday race starting at the very end and managing a P16 finish, and again a bitter Sunday starting P13 when racing incidents at the first corners created minor body damage that led to tire failure and retirement although we had already climbed to P9 and were fighting for P8.

“I had to start the first race from the back of the grid due to an engine failure that happened during qualifying. I managed to finish 16th.

In the second race i started 13th but after a tire failure i had to retire while fighting for 8th place.”

“I want to thank my team Alex Caffi Motorsport for the support and huge amounts of effort they put into making my car competitive.
Next race will be announced soon.”
